IC 321 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Eridanus south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 414 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter .
The galaxy NGC 1309 is in the same region of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 7, 1891 .
