Virtual Bundesliga

The Virtual Bundesliga ( VBL for short ) is an online game mode in the FIFA game series for German-speaking countries. Individual players, and since FIFA 19 also clubs, play for the German championship in the VBL. The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and EA Sports introduced the Virtual Bundesliga in 2012 at the start of FIFA 13 (then known as the Virtual Bundesliga ).

Modes

Since the 2018/19 season, the VBL has consisted of four parts: the VBL Open, the VBL Club Championship, the VBL Playoffs and the VBL Grand Final.

VBL Open

The VBL Open is a free in-game mode. Individual players choose a Bundesliga team. The 18 players with the best monthly results between December 2018 and February 2019 qualify for the VBL playoffs. 90 games per month are available to every gamer.

VBL Club Championship

Since the 2018/19 season, 22 clubs from the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 have been competing with their own squads in the VBL Club Championship and are playing for the title of VBL Club Champion in a closed league system. Players from the best teams qualify directly for the VBL Grand Final, other players for the VBL Playoffs. Remove from the Bundesliga in the season 2019/20 the first FC Cologne , Hertha BSC , Borussia Mönchengladbach , Bayer 04 Leverkusen , Eintracht Frankfurt , the FC Augsburg , the 1. FSV Mainz 05 , the VfL Wolfsburg , RB Leipzig , Werder Bremen and of FC Schalke 04 in part. From the 2nd Bundesliga come VfB Stuttgart , 1. FC Nürnberg , Hannover 96 , SpVgg Greuther Fürth , Holstein Kiel , SV Darmstadt 98 , Arminia Bielefeld , Hamburger SV , VfL Bochum , FC St. Pauli and SV Weh Wiesbaden part. Werder Bremen became champions of the first season 2018/19. The SV Sandhausen and FC Ingolstadt 04 took part only in the season 2018/19, while FC St. Pauli and SV Wehen Wiesbaden participate only since the season 2019/20.

VBL playoffs

In the VBL Playoffs, the qualifiers from the VBL Open and VBL Club Championship fight for a place in the VBL Grand Final. The VBL playoffs will take place in March 2019.

VBL Grand Final

In the VBL Grand Final, the qualifiers from the VBL Playoffs and the qualified teams from the VBL Club Championship determine the German champions in FIFA 19. In addition to the title, the winner receives prize money.

Transfers

Since 2018/19, the free TV broadcaster ProSieben MAXX has been broadcasting a selected VBL Club Championship match per week on television and via internet livestream on ran.de and prosiebenmaxx.de.
