IC 255 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 346 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 1088 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 29, 1893 .
