IC 263 is a spiral galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 380 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 65,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1094 , NGC 1104 , IC 264 , IC 1856 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 9, 1891 .
