IC 241 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type S in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated at 311 million light years from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 100,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 1007 , NGC 1009 , NGC 1016 , NGC 1020 , among others .
The object was discovered on November 19, 1886 by Guillaume Bigourdan .
