IC 224 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 186 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 25,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 929 , among others .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on October 13, 1891 .
