IC 216 is an elliptical dwarf galaxy of the Hubble type E3 in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 135 million light years from the Milky Way and about 10,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 4, 1891 .
