IC 207 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is around 218 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 140,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 830 , NGC 842 , IC 206 , IC 209 .
The Supernova candidate PS 15bxc is observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on January 26, 1892 .
