IC 195 is a lenticular galaxy of Hubble type S0 in the constellation Aries, the estimated 166 million light-years from the Milky Way 's center. Together with the closely neighboring galaxy IC 196 , it forms the galaxy pair Arp 290 . Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This galaxy pair belongs to the class galaxies with wind effects .
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on October 20, 1889 .
