Arp 273 is an interacting pair of galaxies in the constellation Andromeda , which is an estimated 340 million light years away.

Halton Arp organized his catalog of unusual galaxies into groups according to purely morphological criteria. This pair of galaxies belongs to the class double galaxies with linked arms . The larger of the two spiral galaxies, UGC 1810 , has about five times more mass than the smaller one. The smaller galaxy, UGC 1813 , shows clear signs of active star formation in its core and has likely recently crossed the larger one.
