IC 184 is an active spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type Sa in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 241 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 80,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 788 and NGC 779 .
The object was discovered by Ormond Stone on October 15, 1887 .
