IC 202 is a spiral galaxy in edge position of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is around 410 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 170,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 199 , IC 201 , IC 203 , IC 1778 , among others .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 5, 1893 .
