IC 220 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 262 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on January 2, 1892 by Stéphane Javelle .
