IC 205 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is around 374 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 95,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy IC 204 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 3, 1891 .
