IC 189 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble-type Sbc in the constellation Aries at the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 556 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 115,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 776 , IC 180 , IC 181 , IC 190 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on December 15, 1892 .
