IC 171 is an elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 245 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 100,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 753 , NGC 710 , NGC 717 .

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on September 6, 1888 .
