IC 161 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb? in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is around 242 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 65,000 light years . It may form a tied pair with IC 162 . What is certain is that they belong to the same galaxy cluster .
The object was discovered on January 8, 1891 by Lewis Swift .
