IC 164 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E3? in the constellation Cetus south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 237 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 95,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxy NGC 702 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on October 23, 1889 .
