IC 177 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Cetus. It is estimated to be 607 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years across .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 768 , IC 1756 , IC 1757 , IC 1761 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on November 7, 1891 .
