IC 1756 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 299 million light years from the Milky Way and about 125,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 177 and IC 1757 .
The object was discovered by Edward Emerson Barnard .
