IC 1748 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 511 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 150,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 711 .
The object was discovered by Johann Palisa on November 2nd, 1899 .
