IC 1739 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Fornax in the southern sky . It is an estimated 379 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter . Together with PGC 6785 , it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 696 , NGC 698 , IC 1728 .
The property was discovered by DeLisle Stewart in 1899 .
