NGC 719 = IC 1744 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 413 million light years from the Milky Way and about 170,000 light years in diameter .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 722 .

The object was discovered on November 24, 1861 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest (as NGC 719 ) and on January 18, 1896 by the French astronomer Stéphane Javelle (as IC 1744 ).
