NGC 723 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation Whale , about 65 million light years from the Milky Way .
It was discovered on October 26, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel (as NGC 723) and on September 14, 1830 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel (as NGC 724).
