NGC 738 is a compact galaxy of Hubble type C in the constellation triangle at the northern sky . It is an estimated 201 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years across .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 736 , NGC 739 , NGC 740 , NGC 751 .
The object was discovered on October 11, 1850 by Bindon Blood Stoney , an assistant to William Parsons .
