NGC 755 = NGC 763 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 74 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 70,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 713 , NGC 731 , NGC 747 , NGC 767 , among others .
The object was discovered on January 10, 1785 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel (as NGC 755 ) and in 1886 by the American astronomer Ormond Stone (as NGC 763 ).
