NGC 739 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 208 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 736 , NGC 738 , NGC 750 , NGC 751 .
The object was discovered on January 9, 1874 by the Scottish astronomer Ralph Copeland .
