NGC 718 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 80 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 55,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 174 , IC 1746 , IC 1750 , IC 1754 .
The object was discovered on December 13, 1784 by the German-British astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
