NGC 694 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 136 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years in diameter . She is a member of the ten galaxies NGC 691 group ( LGG 34 ). 
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 680 , NGC 691 , IC 167 , IC 1730 .
The Type IIP supernova SN 2014bu was observed here.
The object was discovered on December 2nd, 1861 by Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
