NGC 677 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E0 in the constellation Aries on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 232 million light years from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 671 , NGC 675 , NGC 716 .

The object was discovered on September 25, 1886 by the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift .
