NGC 654 is an open star cluster in the constellation Cassiopeia . NGC 654 is 6 ′ in diameter and has an apparent magnitude of 6.5 mag. NGC 654 belongs to the OB association Cassiopeia OB8 , which includes NGC 663 and Messier 103 , among others .
The object was discovered on November 3, 1787 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
