NGC 670 is an elliptical galaxy in the triangle constellation , which is approximately 171 million light years from the Milky Way . Together with NGC 684 and IC 1731 it forms the NGC 684 group .
The object was discovered on October 26, 1786 by the German-British astronomer Friedrich Wilhelm Herschel .
