NGC 653 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Andromeda on the northern sky . It is estimated to be 250 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on November 29, 1883 by the French astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan .
