NGC 655 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 390 million light years from the Milky Way and about 160,000 ly in diameter.
The Type Ia supernova SN 2010ec was observed here.
The object was discovered on December 12, 1885 by the American astronomer Ormond Stone .
