NGC 672 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBcd in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 25 million light years from the Milky Way and about 35,000 light years in diameter. Together with IC 1727 , which is less than 90,000 light years away , it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy pair Holm 46 .
The galaxies NGC 670 , NGC 684 , IC 1727 , IC 1731 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by William Herschel on October 26, 1786 .
