IC 1731 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is an estimated 162 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 70,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky are the galaxies NGC 670 , NGC 672 , NGC 684 , IC 1727 .

The Type Ia supernova SN 1983R was observed here.

The object was discovered by Isaac Roberts on November 29, 1896 .
