IC 1741 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 665 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 160,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 725 , NGC 734 , NGC 756 , IC 1745 .
The object was discovered on January 1st, 1900 by Herbert Alonzo Howe .
