NGC 725 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sc in the constellation Cetus south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 464 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 110,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 734 , NGC 756 , IC 1741 , IC 1745 , among others .
The object was discovered on November 9, 1885 by the American astronomer Francis Preserved Leavenworth .
