NGC 705 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is an estimated 208 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is considered a member of the Abell 262 galaxy group .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 703 , NGC 704 , NGC 708 , NGC 709 .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on September 21, 1786 .
