NGC 714 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 / a in the constellation Andromeda in the northern sky . It is an estimated 204 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter . The galaxy is considered a member of the Abell 262 galaxy group .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 703 , NGC 708 , NGC 709 , NGC 717 .
The object was discovered on October 28, 1850 by Bindon Blood Stoney , an assistant to William Parsons .
