IC 1758 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Whale south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 258 million light years from the Milky Way and about 45,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 734 , NGC 756 , IC 1745 .
The object was discovered on November 24, 1899 by Herbert Alonzo Howe .
