NGC 761 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBa in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 230 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 ly in diameter.

Together with NGC 750 , NGC 751 , NGC 777 , NGC 783 , NGC 785 , NGC 789 , PGC 7304 , PGC 7545 , PGC 7674 , PGC 7967 , PGC 8215 and PGC 8393 , it forms the NGC 777 group .

The object was discovered on October 11, 1850 by Bindon Blood Stoney , an assistant to William Parsons .
