NGC 783 = IC 1765 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 237 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 110,000 ly

The Type Ia supernova SN 2004fz was observed here.
The object was discovered on September 22, 1871 by the French astronomer Édouard Jean-Marie Stephan (as NGC 783 ) and in 1890 by the American astronomer Edward Emerson Barnard (as IC 1765 ).
