NGC 808 is a bar-spiral galaxy in the constellation Whale south of the celestial equator . It is an estimated 220 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered on October 14, 1830 by the British astronomer John Frederick William Herschel .
