NGC 829 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Whale at the celestial equator . It is an estimated 182 million light-years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light-years across.
The galaxies NGC 830 , NGC 842 , IC 206 , IC 209 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was by astronomer d'Heinrich arrest on September 23, 1828 using a 28-cm - telescope discovered.
