NGC 852 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Eridan in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 281 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on October 27, 1834 .
