NGC 828 is an active spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type Sa in the constellation Andromeda. It is estimated to be 246 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 180,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 818 .
The object was discovered on October 18, 1786 by the astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
