NGC 818 is a barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Andromeda. It is estimated to be 196 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 165,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky is the galaxy NGC 828 .
The type II supernova SN 1992az was observed here.
The object was discovered on October 18, 1786 by the astronomer William Herschel .
