NGC 813 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Little Water Snake in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 355 million light-years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 140,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky there is u. a. the galaxy NGC 802 .
The object was discovered on November 24, 1834 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
