NGC 789 is a galaxy of Hubble type S? in the constellation Triangle in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 241 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 70,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 777 , NGC 783 , NGC 785 , NGC 798 , among others .
The object was discovered on August 24, 1865 by the German-Danish astronomer Heinrich Louis d'Arrest .
